Sometimes I wonder.... If my life was a movie, what movie would it be? At this point I'm pretty sure it would be a musical, but I think it would be about pirates. Pirates on a sinking ship, and I'm the one on deck swabbing away as if everything is going swimmingly. Throw in a cute ditty and some fabulous choreography, a couple of surly mutts and rogue guinea pig with an eye patch and that's pretty much it. Not too bad if you like a mix of mundane, chaotic and unexpected abstractness.

Lately my movie has gone a little off the tracks and definitely over budget. Somehow I'm not starring in it, and there is a fear of shipwreck. Maybe some of you can relate, but this year (including the latter part of this last year) has felt like a big turning point in my life, but not necessarily all for the better. I'm noticing more wrinkles, I'm crying through kids movies. You know... those little things that let you know. What can you do, but drink some nice wine and watch a beautiful sunset at the end of the day?

Well I did that, and then after continuous prodding, I went to my husband's sports doctor. He is a licensed MD, but also a naturopath, and was one of the former sports doctors for the Arizona Cardinals. I did a comprehensive blood screen..... A few needle pokes and a blood draw, and I have a way to become the star of my own feature film again. Evidently my thyroid has gone on strike and it's causing quite a ruckus. I'm a poster child for a thyroid gone awry....Feeling tired? Check. Feeling Cold? Check. Weakness and Aches in Muscles and Joints? Check.

Hair Loss? Check. Itchy and Dry Skin? Check. Feeling Down or Depressed? Check. Trouble Concentrating or Remembering? Check.

One one hand I‘m relieved to have an answer and also a solution. On the other I'm not happy about the start of a medicine which I will probably have to be on from now on. Oh well, here's to a future with a functioning thyroid, lots of nice wine and beautiful sunsets. It would be lovely if a nice beach was thrown in as well!

My wife makes chicken almost every week, much to my protestation. It's not that I hate chicken, I just dislike the majority of factory farm chicken found in supermarkets, more on that later. I'm also
